A large proportion of coaching takes place entirely over the telephone. Coach and coachee may never have met. This is obviously highly suitable when the coachee is required to travel. Some clients, however, will prefer to meet their coach face to face and this can take place in either person's place of work (if appropriate), either person's home (if appropriate) or a neutral meeting place, as long as a degree of privacy can be ensured. Some coaching relationships combine a mixture of the two and most coaches now offer the back-up/reinforcement of email coaching.
Promptness is key. For face-to-face sessions, both parties must, obviously, attend the meeting place at the precise agreed time. Telephone coaching will be equally rigorous; a time will have been agreed beforehand and the coachee must telephone the coach at that specific time. If a coachee phones late, the coach will usually be unable to add on extra time at the end, as the phone line must be freed up for the next coachee to get through.

How does Life-Coaching work?
How does it work? What does a coaching relationship look like? How often does one get coached and for how long?

Logistics
Frequency is a matter of personal preference, weekly or fortnightly sessions being the most popular choice. Monthly follow-up sessions might be used in the long term as a maintenance programme.
The length of the coaching programme will relate to the coachee's stated intentions for the programme and will not normally be for a period shorter than three months.
The average length of a session probably works out at 45 minutes but this will depend on the coachee's schedule, and preference, and the point reached in the coaching programme.
Coaching is about supporting you in realising your goals and attaining the life you dream of. The coaching programme will be designed to suit you and your timetable while achieving the desired results.
